Description
For my beloved mother Rosemary on her 80th birthday!
A rose from the soil
Grows to light up the world,
It’s beauty so pure as it’s petals unfold.
Mum is a rose and
She lights up my world
Shining bright
Like the sun
Happy birthday to you
Mum!
Could a rose by any other name be as sweet as another?
One rose is my favourite by far and that’s my beautiful mother.
As hundreds of poets know well
A rose is the most beautiful flower you could meet
It’s beauty so pure,
it’s fragrance so sweet
Chorus
Fragile but strong,
Wild weather and storms have been and gone,
The seasons have changed,
Theres been drought, sun and rain
And she’s proved her resilience time and again.
Fragile but strong,
She’s cried in the wind trying to right many wrongs,
Despite the snakes and the weeds
And other treacheries,
She has bloomed
And her roots have always held on.
Could a rose by any other name be as sweets as an another?
There’s one rose that is my favourite by far and that’s my beautiful mother,
When the world turns dark
A rose brings colour and a spark
Each petal holds hope,
Each petal holds Love,
Each petal holds beauty,
A secret divine
Like the angels above,
Thank you Mum,
Over cups of tea,
For guiding me through the dark
and showing me light and colour,
Thank you for showering me with your petals.
Fragile but strong,
Wild weather and storms have come and gone,
The seasons have changed
There’s been drought, sun and rain
And she’s proved her loving kindness time and again.
Fragile but strong,
In her home everyone belongs,
Her table’s always set
For welcome guests,
Her cupboards always full
And no one goes hungry.
Could a rose by any other name be as sweet as another?
One rose is my favourite by far and that’s my beautiful mother.
From the moment I was a born,
I’ve had a beautiful home,
There’s always been a soft place to fall,
Through a wide open door.
Fragile but strong ,
Wild weather and storms have been and gone,
The seasons have changed,
There’s been drought, sun and rain
And she’s proved her resilience time and again.
Fragile but strong,
She’s cried in the wind trying to right many wrongs,
Despite the snakes and the weeds
And other treacheries,
She has bloomed
And Her roots have always held on.
A rose from the soil
Grows to light up the world,
Each day it grows in beauty as it’s petals unfold,
My Mum is a rose and she lights up my world,
Shining bright like the sun,
Happy birthday to you Mum!
