Description
It had been a long long drought when I met you,
Like a lady reading leaves in teacups I believed our love was meant to be,
You were a drink to the lips of a thirsty traveller,
You were water to the roots of a wildflower that was gonna die.
I’d been travelling for a long long time,
I’d forgotten how to dance, I’d forgotten how to dream,
I’d forgotten how to feel excited.
You added a new dimension to my cardboard cut out life,
When you came along you swept me off my feet,
How could you then turn around and stab me with a “knife”?
You were my oasis now you’ve gone,
Leaving me standing here in a desert storm.
You were my oasis now you’ve gone,
Leaving me standing here ..alone.
A little voice with in me knows you won’t be coming back,
The night is closing in and I’m alone again on this desert track.
The sun is setting ,
That red ball of fire mirrors my soul,
How can I extinguish love ,
When it’s been blazing out of control?
….. interlude
Millions of stars light up the sky,
Billions of grains of sand surround,
I know with some perspective
Peace can be found.
Deep-inside, I know this is the best way that things could be,
I’ve got to untwist the bitter,
Have another cup of tea
And set myself free.
You were my oasis now you’ve gone,
Leaving me standing here in a desert storm.
You were my oasis now you’ve gone,
Leaving me to travel on alone.
It hasn’t been a total waste of time this journey with you,
I may have been burnt,
But a lot I have learnt,
A spark has ignited in my soul.
I’ll continue to dance,
I’ll continue to dream,
I’ll continue to feel inspired ,
By the sheer number of stars
In the Milky Way ,
And look forward to a new day..
