Well it is the shortest and darkest day here in Australia. The lightest ,brightest and longest day of course, on the other side of the world!
I love the winter solstice- the cosy fire (or gas heater as the case may be !), that feeling of being enveloped by the night, and the associated perfect ambience for making a hot curry or stew and being contemplative and going within.
